HSHM Research Travel Grants
The History of Science and Medicine Program will fund research travel for PhD students with two types of awards to be disbursed between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. Funds will be dispersed to students in one lump sum on or after July 1st.
HSHM Research Travel Grants will be available both to pre-candidacy students and post-candidacy students. For the latter, students must have defended the prospectus and advanced to candidacy by the time they take up the grant funding (not necessarily at the time of application). The maximum that can be awarded to an applicant in pre-candidacy years is $2000; in post-candidacy years the maximum is $3000. Pre-candidacy funds may not be deferred past candidacy.
To apply, follow the link at the bottom of this page.
Applications are due by March 31 and awards will be announced in April. The grants will be awarded based on funds available. Priority will be given to those students who demonstrate a lack of access to other sources of funding, whether external or internal to Yale (such as RITM or MacMillan). Applications will be evaluated by a faculty committee including the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair. In some cases, the committee may only fund part of the request.
All travel must adhere to the University’s health-related guidelines on travel, which may change over the funding period. See this site for further details: https://covid19.yale.edu/travel-policy.
