Katie Mas is broadly interested in the politics of healing and the historical boundaries of orthodoxy in science and medicine. Her dissertation investigates the transcultural health care movement in South Florida in the late twentieth century. Her research examines the changing relationship between anthropology and medicine, as well as the role of the human sciences in negotiating immigration, spirituality, and nonwestern knowledge systems amidst local and geopolitical tensions.
