Astrid is a PhD student in the History of Science and Medicine program. Drawing on histories of labor, medicine, and public health, she is interested in how structures of care are produced, the professional identities that sustain them, and the inequities that shape their operation. In particular, Astrid examines how healthcare teams integrate diverse knowledge systems and how these configurations influence both the effective and ineffective delivery of therapeutic and preventive biomedical technologies.

Astrid previously completed her master’s in the History of Science at Harvard University where she began work exploring the historical factors underlying vaccine hesitancy among nurses. This work has been supported by the Alice Fisher Society Fellowship from the Barbara Bates Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to Harvard, she studied history, biochemistry, and biology at Carleton College.
